Team Accomplishments

March 15-16th: The 8th grade team played their first tournament as a group in District Heights, Maryland.  They played against tough 9th grade teams and finished 1-2.  With only 8 players all weekend, they fought hard and lost close games to solid teams.  Looking forward to seeing growth each weekend!

March 22-23: The 8th grade team competed in Baltimore this past weekend in the 9th grade bracket.  They went 2-2 and lost in the semi-final game.  Both their loses came in the last 30 seconds in which they were winning in both games.  They gained valuable experiences learning how to finish games and put teams away.

March 29-30: The 8th grade team went 3-1 this weekend in West Virginia.  After losing an early game on Saturday, they went 3-0 the rest of the way.  They avenged their only loss of the weekend in the Championship vs Maryland Attitude.  They won the 8/9th grade division to be Jefferson Team Adidas Spring Champions!  Congrats on a great weekend!

April 25-27: This past weekend the team competed in the Spring Southern Classic in Greensboro, NC.  They finished 4th place out of 16 teams at the event.  They started out very well and lost in the semi-final game.  The girls played mostly with 8 all weekend!  They received tremendous priase and look forward to building on it the following weekend!

May 3-4: 8th played this weekend in the DMV Challenge at District Heights.  They went 3-0 playing up in division!  Great effort and teamwork by the team!

May 15-16:  8th grade competed in the Southern Classic Championships in Richmond, Va.  They went 2-2 in the 9th grade divison.

May 24-25:  Girls competed in the Shooting Stars tounament in Maryland.  They went 1-2 in the 9th grade divison.  With only 7 players they did a good job keeping up, but couldnt pull it off after leading in both games.  It was a good learning lesson and valuable experience  for the girls.

June 21-24: Team competed in the USJN Hershey event.  They went 4-1 and lost the final pool game 57-56.  It wasnt their best performance and a lesson to learn from. After coming out strong in each of the four games, they had a slow start in the final pool game.  It was a good overall weekend but I know their goal was short to advance out of the pool.  They will learn to play at a high level each game and get prepared for the final month of the season!
